Activision security director details Call of Duty anti-cheat efforts

David Andrews, the Senior Director of Game Security for Call of Duty at Activision, has provided insights into the company’s anti-cheat efforts. Andrews, a former Department of Defense contractor and Air Force member, previously worked at Rockstar Games addressing cheating in Grand Theft Auto Online.

During a discussion regarding the Ricochet anti-cheat system, Andrews addressed common myths and explained the investigation process for suspected cheaters. He noted that the industry for game cheating has become a multi-billion dollar business. The discussion also touched upon the strategy of hiring former cheat developers to better combat the issue, a move intended to strengthen security ahead of upcoming releases.
