Activision's Black Ops ports sell over 11 million copies on PlayStation
Activision released ports of Call of Duty: Black Ops and Black Ops II for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on 9 July 2026. Analyst firm Alinea Analytics estimates the two titles sold a combined 11.2 million copies in July—approximately 3 million of Black Ops and 8.2 million of Black Ops II. The sales generated roughly US$ 435 million in revenue, with Black Ops II accounting for about US$ 325 million and Black Ops about US$ 110 million. Most purchases were made on the PS5 (over 90 % of each title’s sales). The ports, which feature no graphical upgrades or new content, became the two best‑selling PlayStation games of the month, ahead of titles such as Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced. The strong performance highlights the market power of nostalgia‑driven re‑releases for Activision and Sony’s PlayStation platform.
