Activists demand investigation into Ana Clara case in Brazil

Activists have placed banners in major Brazilian cities, including São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Salvador, calling for a renewed investigation into the 2021 death of five-year-old Ana Clara. The banners, which feature the message “Search Google for Ana Clara and Flávio Bolsonaro,” were installed at prominent landmarks such as the Estaiada Bridge and the Lacerda Elevator.

The case involves a child who was killed by a rifle shot while playing in a community in Niterói in February 2021. The protests highlight political tensions regarding Senator Flávio Bolsonaro’s previous defense of the police officer accused of the shooting. The incident was recently referenced during presidential debates, where President Lula cited the case during discussions on public security.

While Senator Bolsonaro has defended his actions as part of his legal practice, the Supreme Electoral Court has previously prohibited social media promotions that accuse him of defending the individual responsible for the child's death.
