Activists hold rallies for Palestinian liberation and labor organizing
Labor leaders and activists held events focused on Palestinian solidarity and long-term labor organizing. During a Zoom call commemorating the anniversary of the 2004 Million Worker March, speakers discussed mobilizing for May Day 2027. The discussion included calls for a general strike and demands for free education, healthcare, housing, and clean energy, alongside the defense of reproductive and voting rights.
Labor organizers also addressed the impact of artificial intelligence on the workforce, advocating for union control to prevent layoffs and banning AI use in policing and military operations. The call featured a focus on dismantling Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and expressed support for the liberation of Palestine.
In Washington, D.C., hundreds of protesters marched on Capitol Hill to demand an end to violence in Gaza and an arms embargo. Activists called for economic and diplomatic sanctions against Israel, citing ongoing human rights violations and high casualty rates in the Gaza Strip and West Bank.
