Marshall BioResources is identified as a major breeder of cats and dogs for laboratory use in the United States, with additional colonies located in the United Kingdom, France, and China. Critics of the company highlight that the FDA has noted approximately 90 percent of drugs that pass animal trials fail in human subjects. Proponents of reform suggest transitioning to human-relevant methods, such as AI-based computational toxicity models, lab-grown human organoids, and organ-on-a-chip systems, to replace traditional animal testing.
