Actor Bae Hyun-sung debuts in psychological thriller ‘Paradise Lost’
Actor Bae Hyun-sung is making his film debut as a lead in the psychological thriller ‘Paradise Lost’, directed by Yeon Sang-ho. The film follows a mother, played by Kim Hyun-joo, whose son miraculously returns nine years after disappearing in a camping school bus incident.
In his role as Ryu Sun-woo, a survivor of the disappearance, Bae undergoes a significant transformation from his previous roles. To portray the character’s unsettling and mysterious nature, Bae utilized heavy makeup for two hours daily and focused on subtle physical cues, such as slow movements and intense eye contact, to create a sense of unease.
The film has already gained international attention, having been invited to the 51st Toronto International Film Festival as a Special Presentation, where its official screenings sold out. Bae also participated in the Busan International Film Festival. The actor noted that working with Director Yeon Sang-ho again, following their collaboration on ‘Hell Season 2’, was a significant motivation for joining the project.
