Actor Choi Sung Won Announces Full Recovery from Acute Leukemia

South Korean actor Choi Sung Won, known for his role in the tvN drama Reply 1988, disclosed on KBS 2TV’s entertainment program Happy Together – Glad I’m Not Alone that he has been diagnosed with acute leukemia twice. The first diagnosis forced him to pause his acting career, and after a period of recovery and a return to work, a relapse occurred two years later.

During the recent broadcast, Choi shared that despite excruciating pain he remained determined to act, saying he “had to act” even while in the hospital. He announced that doctors have now declared him fully recovered, prompting applause from the studio audience and heartfelt congratulations from his close friend Lim Chul Soo, who said he was so happy he “danced on the street.”
