Bengaluru court defers approver statement in Renukaswamy murder case

A Bengaluru court has deferred the recording of the statement from Pradosh, a co-accused turned approver, in the Renukaswamy murder case. The 59th City Civil and Sessions Court postponed the proceedings until September 7 following a request from Special Public Prosecutor Prasanna P. Kumar, pending an order from the Karnataka High Court.

Actor Darshan, who is currently in custody, has challenged the trial court's decision to grant Pradosh approver status. Darshan filed a petition in the High Court questioning the legal and procedural grounds of the decision and seeking a stay on the order. Pradosh had previously applied for a conditional pardon under Section 307 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, offering to provide a full disclosure regarding the murder, evidence disposal, and the roles of other accused individuals.

The case stems from the June 2024 abduction, torture, and murder of 33-year-old Renukaswamy, whose body was discovered in Kamakshipalya, Bengaluru.
