Actor David Henrie discusses disparities in television residuals
Actor David Henrie has shared insights regarding the significant differences in residual payments received from his various television projects. Speaking on the “Good Guys” podcast, Henrie noted that his work on the CBS sitcom “How I Met Your Mother” continues to provide substantial residual income more than a decade after the show ended.
Henrie attributed this windfall to the show's production structure, noting that while he filmed 30 episodes, he appeared in nearly 90 due to editing choices, which multiplied his residual eligibility at network rates. In contrast, he stated that his five-season run on the Disney Channel series “Wizards of Waverly Place” yielded very little in comparison, describing the payments as barely registering.
In a separate discussion on “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” Henrie highlighted the often overlooked reality of entertainment industry earnings, noting how small residuals can be despite the nostalgia and fame associated with iconic series.
