Actor Gilson Alves, a native of Monteiro, is gaining national recognition for his role in the feature film ‘DAVI’. Released on September 4 on various streaming platforms, the film reached the Top 10 on Box Brazil Play, securing the fourth position within five days of its debut.

Directed by Rayssa de Castro and filmed in Rio de Janeiro, ‘DAVI’ explores themes of bullying, the challenges of public education, and the daily struggles of teachers. The narrative is inspired by the 2011 Realengo massacre. Alves portrays a teacher navigating a deficient educational system, performing alongside actors such as Sidney Sampaio, Sérgio Hondjakoff, and Fábio Keldani.
