Actor Giorgos Chraniotis on personal faith and psychotherapy

During his summer theatrical tour across Greece, actor Giorgos Chraniotis sat for an extensive interview with OK! magazine journalist Asteri Kasimati. He said he believes in God and prays, but stresses that the divine is not tied to any specific religion. Chraniotis recounted visits to Mount Athos and attendance at a Divine Liturgy, while noting he can also pray in Buddhist or Hindu temples. He views religion’s role as helping people draw nearer to God rather than fostering fanaticism, preferring to follow his own personal moral code.

The actor also spoke about his long‑term engagement with psychotherapy, describing it as “training of the soul” comparable to going to the gym. He attended sessions for many years without a particular crisis, eventually taking a break, but sees therapy as a relationship that can be resumed when needed.
