Actor Ji Soo Rebuilds Career in the Philippines After Bullying Scandal
South Korean actor Ji Soo, whose career stalled after a bullying scandal, has spent the past two years working in the Philippines. He signed with GMA Network, the country's largest broadcast station, and appears in several local programs.
Ji Soo noted that unlike in Korea, where actors typically sign with management agencies, Philippine performers often contract directly with broadcasters and may have to cover their own expenses. He has been studying English with private tutors to improve his work performance. The experience, he says, gave him a sense of freedom and motivated him to work harder, turning a personal low point into a new professional chapter. He briefly returned to Korea in July before heading back to the Philippines.
His Korean background has drawn additional attention, and he reports warm reception from Filipino audiences, which he credits for his growing recognition in the market.
