Actor Jia Nailiang earns over $2.5 million in single livestream session

Chinese actor Jia Nailiang has achieved significant success in e-commerce after transitioning away from acting. During a 12-hour livestream session for the 11/11 shopping festival on Douyin, his sales reached 570 million NDT (approximately $85.3 million USD), marking his highest revenue in three years.

At the peak of the broadcast, the session drew 7 million concurrent viewers. Reports indicate that after accounting for costs and commissions, Jia could take home approximately 17 million NDT (over $2.5 million USD) from this single day of work. The livestreaming operation was managed by a Hangzhou-based technology company represented by his sister, Jia San.

Jia, 42, noted that his shift toward commercial activities follows challenges in his acting career, stating he felt he was in an age bracket that was too old for idol dramas but not yet suited for fatherly roles. He has largely focused on commercial ventures over the last seven years.
