Actor Lee Jae-ryong's first trial postponed to November

The first trial for actor Lee Jae-ryong, 62, has been postponed to November 13. Lee is accused of failing to take measures after a traffic accident and obstructing a breathalyzer test following a collision in Gangnam, Seoul.

On March 6, Lee reportedly struck a median strip near Cheongdam Station before fleeing the scene. Following the accident, he attended another drinking session, which authorities believe was an attempt to use the ‘drinking more alcohol’ tactic to obscure his actual blood alcohol concentration at the time of the crash.

While police initially applied drunk driving charges, prosecutors excluded them from the indictment. They determined that using the Widmark formula to estimate his blood alcohol level at the time of the accident could not clearly prove a concentration above the 0.03% legal limit. The trial date was moved from October 16 following a request from Lee's legal counsel.
