Actor Mackenyu cast as lead in Mashle live-action adaptation

Japanese actor Mackenyu, known for his portrayal of Roronoa Zoro in Netflix’s One Piece, has been cast as the protagonist Mash Burnedead in the upcoming live-action adaptation of Mashle: Magic and Muscles. The film is scheduled for release on March 19, 2027.

According to an interview shared by Oricon Japan, Mackenyu has spent the last three years physically preparing for this specific role. The production is directed by Yuichi Fukuda and is a collaboration between Toho and Warner Bros. The story follows a character born without magic in a world where magic defines social status, forcing him to rely on extraordinary physical strength to compensate.

The original manga by Hajime Komoto ran from 2020 to 2023 and was later adapted into an anime by A-1 Pictures. The live-action project marks another major transition of popular manga content to real-life imagery for the studios involved.
