Actor Michael Johnston says no sequel planned for hit horror film 'Obsession

Actor Michael Johnston confirmed that there are currently no plans for a sequel to the horror film ‘Obsession’, despite the movie’s record‑breaking box‑office performance. The film, released on May 15, has earned more than USD 400 million worldwide – over USD 245 million domestically and USD 157 million internationally – after being produced on a reported budget of only USD 750,000 and shot in just 20 days.

Johnston said he would be happy to return to the franchise but noted that the general consensus is the character Bear “got what he deserved”. He expressed enthusiasm for writer‑director Curry Barker’s idea of turning ‘Obsession’ into an anthology series, while also noting that an originally filmed darker ending in which the female lead dies was ultimately replaced.

The movie’s success has made it one of the year's biggest independent horror hits, but no sequel development is underway.
