Actor Michael Mendl dies at age 82

German character actor Michael Mendl has passed away at the age of 82. While his death was publicly confirmed in early September, his friend and colleague Rüdiger Joswig revealed that Mendl actually died on July 31.

Mendl, known for his roles in productions such as ‘Der Untergang’, ‘Barfuß’, and ‘Dark’, had been battling various illnesses, including bone cancer. Joswig noted that Mendl had been living alone and expressed that the actor had often mentioned feeling “very lonely.”

Mendl was buried in a forest cemetery near Berlin, in accordance with his own wishes. Joswig, a fellow actor known for the series ‘Küstenwache’, shared memories of their 16-year friendship, describing Mendl as a great, unpretentious actor and a wonderful person.
