Actor Mondli Thusi Hospitalized After Pitbull Attack in Boksburg

South African actor Mondli Thusi, known for his role in "Generations: The Legacy," was mauled by two pit‑bull type dogs on 4 May 2026 while walking near his home in Boksburg, Gauteng. The attack left him with serious injuries to his legs, arms and buttocks. He was rushed to Tambo Memorial Hospital, where doctors said his condition was serious but stable and that he continues to fight for recovery.

Police in Gauteng opened an investigation into the incident. A motorist who arrived at the scene fired a shot into the ground, which helped disperse the dogs. The owner of the dogs is reportedly denying responsibility, claiming he only owned one dog and that the other was taken by the SPCA. Gauteng police spokesperson Colonel Noxolo Kweza confirmed the probe into alleged illegal keeping of dangerous dogs.

Thusi, who is unable to work while recovering, confirmed the attack and said he is pursuing legal action. The case has highlighted concerns over pit‑bull ownership and public safety in the region.
