Actor Patrick Fernandez exits GZSZ with on‑screen murder of his character

Actor Patrick Fernandez announced his departure from the daily German soap "Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten" (GZSZ) after three and a half years. His role, Carlos Lopez, will be killed off in a murder storyline that concludes on 10 June 2026 at 19:40 CET on RTL, with a preview on RTL+. Fernandez said he never expected his character to be murdered, calling the twist “the most shocking” and expressing gratitude for the story, adding that the final arc was “completely rounded”.

The murder is linked to an investigation into the death of Lopez’s on‑screen wife Zoé, for which Lopez had become a suspect. The storyline has been billed as a “top‑story” exit. Around the same time, veteran actor Felix von Jascheroff also confirmed his eventual exit from the series after 25 years, though he will remain on‑screen for several more months.

Both actors’ departures are part of a broader cast reshuffle at RTL’s flagship soap, which has aired daily since 1992.
