Actor Saka recounts Jide Kosoko's initial doubt regarding his acting range

Nollywood actor and comedian Afeez Oyetoro, popularly known as Saka, has recounted a past professional conflict involving veteran actor and director Jide Kosoko. The incident occurred during a film project produced by Dele Odule.

According to Oyetoro, Odule cast him to play the role of a lawyer, but Kosoko initially objected to the decision. Kosoko reportedly doubted Oyetoro’s ability to portray a serious professional due to his established comedic image. Following a disagreement between Odule and Kosoko, the director reluctantly agreed to let Oyetoro perform the role.

Oyetoro stated that his performance eventually changed Kosoko’s perspective. After the filming was completed, Kosoko reportedly summoned Oyetoro to apologize, explaining that he had underestimated the actor’s capabilities because of his quiet demeanor on set.

Beyond his acting career, Oyetoro is a theatre scholar who holds a master’s degree from the University of Ibadan and currently serves as a senior lecturer and head of the Department of Theatre Arts at the Lagos State University of Education.
