Actor Steve Way praises disability representation in Hulu series ‘Furious’

Actor Steve Way has praised creator Liz Meriwether for the portrayal of disability and romance in the Hulu thriller series ‘Furious’. Way, who has muscular dystrophy, plays the character Alden, a homebound young man who develops an unconventional romance with Catherine (played by Lola Petticrew).

Way noted that the series offers a healthy and beautiful depiction of disabled romance, contrasting it with previous onscreen portrayals that often focus on tragedy or loss of virginity. He credited Meriwether and the writing team for being receptive to his input regarding the nuances of living with a disability, allowing him the freedom to improvise and ensure the character was represented authentically.

The series follows Catherine Grace, a sex trafficking survivor seeking vengeance against wealthy men, and FBI agent Alice Black (Emmy Rossum) as she investigates a web of sexual abuse.
