Actor Tiago Teotónio Pereira faces public backlash over villain role

Portuguese actor Tiago Teotónio Pereira has reported experiencing real-world hostility due to his portrayal of the villainous character Sílvio in the SIC soap opera ‘Páginas da Vida’.

The actor shared that the intense public reaction has manifested in personal encounters, including an incident at a Pingo Doce supermarket where a customer refused to serve him, telling him, “I used to like you, but I don’t anymore. You are bad, go to the next register.”

Pereira noted that while he receives many hateful messages and comments, he understands the audience's frustration with the character's despicable actions. He emphasized his ability to distinguish between his professional roles and his personal life, noting that the filming environment remained positive despite the difficult scenes.
