Actor Tran Khai Thai reflects on career and iconic role

Hong Kong actor Tran Khai Thai, born in 1964, has reflected on his career trajectory, moving from a background in economics and banking in Canada to becoming a prominent figure in the entertainment industry.

He gained significant notoriety for his portrayal of Doan Chi Binh in the 1995 television adaptation of Kim Dung’s “The Return of the Condor Heroes.” While the role brought him widespread recognition, it also led to intense public dislike for the actor due to the character’s villainous nature.

After working with TVB, Tran moved to ATV in 1998. He also achieved success as a television host, notably serving as the MC for the Hong Kong version of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” starting in 2001.
