Actor Wang Jing rescued after being trafficked to Myanmar

Chinese actor Wang Jing was trafficked into northern Myanmar after being deceived by a fraudulent job offer. According to a documentary released by China Central Television and the Ministry of Public Security, the actor was lured by individuals posing as representatives of the prominent Thai entertainment company GMM.

After being told he had secured a role, Wang traveled to Thailand, only to be diverted toward the Thailand-Myanmar border. During his ordeal, he was sold three times within four days as traffickers attempted to conceal his whereabouts. Wang managed to send a pre-arranged distress signal to his girlfriend in China, which prompted her to seek help.

The Chinese Embassy in Thailand coordinated with local police to facilitate his rescue. The incident highlights the growing severity of transnational telecommunications fraud and human trafficking rings operating in the region, where victims are often valued based on their education levels and technical skills.
