Actor Yoo Ah-in signs with BILLIONS agency amid comeback controversy

South Korean actor Yoo Ah-in is preparing a professional comeback following a drug scandal involving substances such as propofol, marijuana, ketamine, and cocaine. After receiving a suspended prison sentence for violations of the Narcotics Control Act, Yoo has signed an exclusive contract with the entertainment agency BILLIONS.

His return has sparked significant controversy and public backlash in South Korea. Critics have expressed anger over the decision, noting that Yoo is attempting to resume his career while still serving a suspended sentence. The agency addressed these concerns by stating they empathized with Yoo’s desire to rebuild public trust and become a “completely new actor,” following lengthy discussions.

In addition to the agency signing, Yoo has been cast in the film “Vampire,” directed by Jang Jae-hyun. The situation has prompted discussions regarding how the South Korean entertainment industry weighs commercial potential and talent value against reputational risk and public backlash.
