Zdeněk Žák retires from theatre due to serious health issues

Czech actor Zdeněk Žák, 74, is facing severe health complications that have forced him to retire from stage performances. After being hospitalized in Třinec, he was transferred to a hospital in Kolín to be closer to his family.

Žák is currently dealing with heart issues and complications with his leg. He has previously battled kidney failure due to diabetes, noting that one kidney has failed completely and the other is in poor condition, requiring him to use dialysis.

Due to his condition, theaters including Divadlo Bez zábradlí and Adverte have begun searching for replacements for his upcoming roles. Despite the physical challenges, Žák has expressed a fighting spirit regarding his recovery.
