Actors celebrate 20 years of ‘Ugly Betty’

Actors America Ferrera and Michael Urie have marked the 20th anniversary of the television series ‘Ugly Betty’. The comedy-drama, which aired on ABC from 2006 to 2010, follows the life of Betty Suarez, a smart woman navigating the cutthroat fashion industry at Mode magazine.

Michael Urie, who played Marc St. James, described the series as his ‘perfect big break’ and expressed gratitude for the lifelong friendships formed during production. America Ferrera, who portrayed the titular character, shared a montage of clips from the show to celebrate the milestone.

Developed by Silvio Horta, the series was based on the Colombian telenovela ‘Yo soy Betty, la fea’. During its run, the show earned multiple accolades, including Golden Globe and Primetime Emmy Awards, with Ferrera winning an Emmy for her performance. The series premiere originally drew over 10 million viewers.
