Actors of Lan Xiang Ru Gu face scrutiny and praise amid drama success

The Chinese drama ‘Lan Xiang Ru Gu’ has achieved significant viewership success, becoming one of Tencent’s fastest series to reach a 30,000 heat index milestone. Lead actors Tan Songyun, Liu Xueyi, and Li Meng recently appeared on the program ‘Mao Xue Wang’ to discuss the production.

Liu Xueyi shared the physical rigors of filming a shirtless bathing scene, noting that he avoided carbohydrates for half a month and restricted water intake for three days prior to the shoot to achieve specific muscle definition. While the scene was well-received by viewers, he noted the strict diet negatively impacted his mood during filming.

Meanwhile, actress Li Meng has faced renewed scrutiny regarding her professional conduct. Allegations have surfaced claiming she arrived several hours late on the first day of filming for ‘Mo Yu Yun Jian,’ causing delays for the crew and cast. Past controversies have also been revisited, including a role change in the 2015 production ‘Bai Lu Yuan’ and reported friction during the filming of ‘Lao Qiang.’ Li Meng has previously addressed such criticisms, admitting that she was once overly self-centered and lacked an understanding of the necessity of teamwork in film production.
