Actress Adwina explains relocation from Ghana to the United States

Veteran Ghanaian actress Adwina has shared the reasons behind her decision to leave the Ghanaian film industry and relocate to the United States. Speaking on Adom TV’s ‘The Journey’ programme, she explained that the primary motivation for her move was the responsibility of caring for and supporting her children.

Adwina noted that the relocation was a significant risk, mentioning that the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo had advised her against leaving the country. Despite this, she prioritized her family obligations. She has lived in the United States for approximately 20 years, returning to Ghana every three to four years for work, relaxation, and family matters.

While she expressed a continued passion for acting, Adwina stated she had to put her career on hold to focus on her children. She reflected on her early career alongside colleagues such as Nana Ama McBrown and Vivian Jill Lawrence, expressing happiness at their professional success. She also touched upon personal hardships, including the loss of both her parents, which required her to return to Ghana for funeral arrangements.
