Actress assaulted in São Paulo metro after political event
Mariana, an actress and art educator, has spoken out regarding a physical assault she suffered at the Butantã metro station in São Paulo on Sunday, October 18. The incident occurred following a political rally held by Flávio Bolsonaro.
Mariana reported that she was targeted by a couple while waiting for a ride-share vehicle because she was wearing a red shirt. According to her account, the confrontation began when the couple made derogatory comments about the clothing of certain voters. The situation escalated into physical violence when the man, identified as Diogo Freire Estevão, allegedly struck her in the head and face. A woman accompanying him, identified as Leda, also reportedly participated by pulling Mariana's hair.
Estevão, who owns a logistics company in Vargem Grande Paulista, was identified following the incident. Reports indicate that during the same week as the assault, the judiciary had granted a protective order for a woman whom Estevão had allegedly threatened to kill.
