Actress Aymen Saleem joins Pakistan Peoples Party

Pakistani actress Aymen Saleem has officially joined the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), citing the political legacy of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto as her primary inspiration. During a press conference in Karachi, Saleem expressed her desire to utilize her education and professional experience to serve the Pakistani people through public service.

Saleem emphasized that her entry into politics is not an immediate pursuit of high office, such as a seat in the National Assembly or the Senate, but rather a commitment to finding a platform for meaningful social contribution. She noted that Bhutto’s history as Pakistan’s first female prime minister taught her that ambitions should not be limited by gender.

The actress, daughter of former Pakistani cricketer Saleem Yousuf, previously announced a departure from the entertainment industry in 2021 before returning to television in 2022. She expressed gratitude to PPP leadership, including President Asif Ali Zardari and Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, for the opportunity to begin her political career.
