Actress Carol Castro reveals fibromyalgia diagnosis

Brazilian actress Carol Castro has revealed she was diagnosed with fibromyalgia following extensive medical examinations and consultations. The 42-year-old artist reported experiencing constant pain, stating, “I feel pain 24 hours a day.”

Castro noted that receiving a formal diagnosis provided a sense of relief by validating her physical symptoms. She described a long process of investigating various disease markers through blood tests and medical appointments prior to the confirmation by a rheumatologist.

According to the Brazilian Society of Rheumatology, fibromyalgia is the second most common rheumatological disease in Brazil, affecting between 2.5% and 3% of the population. The condition is characterized by widespread chronic pain, sleep disturbances, and cognitive changes.

The diagnosis coincided with a demanding period in Castro's career while filming the telenovela Garota do Momento, as well as a difficult personal time following the death of her father, Luca de Castro.
