Actress Elke Sommer Mourns Husband Wolf Walther’s Death

Wolf Walther, 77, died of prostate cancer on 22 July 2026 in Los Angeles. He had been married to German‑born actress Elke Sommer since 1993, after a long partnership that began in 1989. Walther, a former New York luxury‑hotel manager known for his towering height, spent his final weeks bedridden in Los Angeles, surrounded by his wife, children Caroline Michel and Sebastian Walther, and two granddaughters. He expressed a wish to be buried in Germany; his ashes are to be interred in the family grave in Marloffstein, Bavaria. Sommer, 85, said her “heart is broken” and described the loss as a profound emptiness. The couple had split their time between a home in Marloffstein and Los Angeles, but in recent years lived mainly in the United States for medical care.
