Ha Young resumes filming amid ancestral pro-Japanese controversy
South Korean actress Ha Young is facing intense public backlash following revelations regarding her great-grandfather, Ahn Sang Ho, who was allegedly involved in pro-Japanese activities during the colonial period. The controversy surfaced after Ha Young mentioned her family’s four-generation medical lineage on a television program.
Ha Young has issued a handwritten apology, stating she was unaware of the specific historical details of her great-grandfather’s actions and expressing deep regret. Despite the apology, public criticism remains high, with some netizens calling for her retirement or the donation of family assets.
Her agency, BISTUS Entertainment, confirmed that Ha Young has resumed filming for the upcoming SBS drama ‘The Long Shot Trial’ (also referred to as ‘Winning Chance’) after a one-week hiatus. The break was granted by the production team after the actress became emotional on set. The drama, which is approximately 90 percent complete, is a remake of a Japanese series and is scheduled to air in early 2027. The production team is currently reviewing the situation and monitoring developments closely.
