Actress Lee Hwi-hyang discusses career comeback and husband's support

South Korean actress Lee Hwi-hyang shared details regarding her career comeback during an appearance on the YouTube channel ‘Song Seung-hwan’s Wonderful Life’. After a five-year hiatus following her appearance in ‘Chief Detective’, Lee credited her late husband, Kim Du-jo, for encouraging her return to acting.

While living in Pohang, Lee was offered an opportunity to participate in a local theater festival. Despite her initial hesitation due to childcare responsibilities, her husband offered to care for their child so she could practice. Following her success and winning a presidential award at the festival, Kim encouraged her to move to Seoul to pursue acting professionally.

This move led to significant opportunities, including an offer from actor Choi Bul-am to perform in the play ‘Private Life’. Her subsequent success in theater eventually paved the way for her return to television dramas, such as ‘Dew on Every Leaf’.
