Actress Sara Mortensen Announces Death of Mother Elisabeth Mortensen

Actress Sara Mortensen announced on Instagram on 1 August that her mother, veteran actress Elisabeth Mortensen, died at age 78. Elisabeth had been suffering from two neuro‑degenerative conditions that left her unable to speak, move or learn lines. Sara shared a heartfelt message, “Mon cœur ne battra plus au même rythme,” and thanked supporters.

The two had recently appeared together in the France 2 series “Astrid et Raphaëlle,” where Elisabeth played Mathilde Nielsen, the mother of Sara’s character, in what they described as a poignant final scene. Colleagues such as Marie Fugain and Nadège Beausson‑Diagne expressed public condolences. Sara said she would travel to Norway, where her family is based, to be with relatives and arrange the funeral.
