Acumen Resilient Agriculture Fund secures $90 million to expand climate‑smart farming across Africa

The Acumen Resilient Agriculture Fund (ARAF) announced that it has secured $90 million in new investment commitments, including a $12 million tranche from Sweden’s development finance institution Swedfund. The capital will be used to broaden the fund’s portfolio of fast‑growing food and agriculture companies that improve market access, finance, digital services and post‑harvest loss reduction for smallholder farmers.

ARAF, launched in 2020 as the world’s first fund dedicated to building climate‑resilient smallholder farms, already reaches more than 3 million farms in East and West Africa. The new financing will enable expansion into North Africa and aims to impact at least four million additional smallholder producers, helping them cope with droughts, floods and other climate shocks. Investors include the Green Climate Fund, FMO, Proparco, Swedfund, BIO, FASA and a U.S. family‑office, reflecting growing confidence in mixed‑finance models for sustainable agriculture in the continent.
