Acura announces expansion of SUV lineup with new adventure and family models

Acura has announced a strategic expansion of its SUV lineup, confirming the development of three new models to meet evolving consumer demands. Key additions include an “adventure-ready” SUV, expected to arrive in early 2028, which marks the brand’s first foray into off-road-capable vehicles since the SLX in the late 1990s.

The automaker is also developing its largest model ever: an eight-passenger SUV designed to compete in the premium family vehicle segment, potentially targeting models like the Lexus TX. This flagship vehicle is expected to be positioned above the current MDX.

Additionally, a new RDX Hybrid is planned for the lineup. These upcoming models are expected to feature new hybrid V-6 powertrains as part of Acura’s long-term product roadmap. Eiji Fujimura, president and CEO of American Honda, stated that the brand is focused on delivering premium value and increasing speed to market to remain competitive.
