Acura unveils NEXERA Vision concept to define future design direction
Acura has unveiled the NEXERA Vision, a concept car designed to establish a new visual identity for the brand as it approaches its 40th anniversary. Debuted at Monterey Car Week, the two-door coupe features a Matte Titanium finish, dual-hinge butterfly doors, and active aerodynamics.
Under the direction of Yasutake Tsuchida, the former Mazda designer, the concept introduces “phantom lighting.” This technology allows ultrathin headlights and taillights, inspired by the brand’s “A” emblem, to remain hidden within the bodywork until illuminated.
While the NEXERA Vision is not intended for production, its design language—including the lighting signature and emphasis on sustainable materials like CircuLeather—will influence future Acura models. The first production vehicle to incorporate these elements is expected to be the fourth-generation RDX Hybrid, slated for arrival in 2028.
