Acute diarrheal disease cases rise in Moldova and Romania
A significant number of acute diarrheal disease cases have been recorded in Moldova, with 538 cases reported between September 7 and September 13. Nearly half of these cases occurred among children.
Medical experts note that enteroviral infections, which cause symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, are common among children due to lower immunity and hygiene habits. Pediatric gastroenterologist Dr. Catrinel Preda emphasizes that these viral infections are self-limiting and do not require antibiotics or antiviral treatments. Instead, the most critical aspect of management is rehydration, alongside dietary adjustments and medications to alleviate symptoms.
