Ada joins Subotica Regional Landfill system

The Municipality of Ada has officially joined the Regional Waste Management System, becoming the eighth founding member of the Subotica Regional Landfill. Following multi-year negotiations, an agreement has been signed to define financing methods, rights, and obligations.

Through this connection, approximately 13,300 users will gain access to a modern waste management system. This move is intended to facilitate the closure of an unsanitary landfill in Ada that has posed ecological and health challenges for years. The municipality will invest 105 million dinars into the project, covering mobile assets and necessary infrastructure, including a tractor, trailer, various containers, and a loader.

Waste from Ada will be transported to a transfer station in Senta by the local utility company, JKP ‘Standard’, before being moved to the Regional Center in Subotica for sorting and disposal. The regional system currently includes seven other local governments: Subotica, Bačka Topola, Senta, Kanjiža, Novi Kneževac, Čoka, and Mali Iđoš.
