ADAC and ÖAMTC conduct extensive all-season and winter tire tests
Automobile clubs ADAC and ÖAMTC have released comprehensive test results for all-season and winter tires for the 2026 season, highlighting significant performance disparities among various models.
In the ADAC test of 16 all-season tires (size 185/65 R15), the Continental AllSeasonContact 2 was the only model to receive a ‘good’ rating. Other models from Pirelli, Michelin, Vredestein, Hankook, Goodyear, Nokian, and GT Radial were deemed ‘satisfactory’. Notably, eight models, including those from Nexen, Dunlop, Bridgestone, and Tomason, failed to receive a recommendation due to poor performance on dry, wet, or winter surfaces.
Separately, the Austrian club ÖAMTC tested 32 tire models (size 225/50 R17). The testing emphasized wet surface performance and ecological impact, including wear and noise levels. While some budget options performed well, nine tires were flagged as dangerous, and several well-known brands, such as Toyo and Falken, received ‘insufficient’ ratings due to failures in crisis simulations.
