ADAC Cyclassics Hamburg 2026 features elite field and steep climbs

The 29th edition of the ADAC Cyclassics Hamburg, a UCI WorldTour one-day race, is scheduled for Sunday, August 16, 2026. The 205.3-kilometer course begins in Buxtehude and concludes on Mönckebergstraße in central Hamburg.

The race features a challenging route that includes five ascents of the Waseberg, a 700-meter climb with gradients reaching 16 percent. This terrain is expected to create a tactical battle between elite sprinters and classics specialists. Defending champion Rory Townsend returns to the event following his surprise breakaway victory in 2025.

Key contenders include top sprinters such as Jonathan Milan, Olav Kooij, Arnaud De Lie, and Paul Magnier. Other notable participants include Biniam Girmay, Kaden Groves, and Isaac del Toro. The repeated climbs are designed to test the endurance of the peloton and potentially disrupt traditional mass sprints.
