ADAC ends Shell fuel discount partnership; Esso named new partner

Shell and ADAC are ending their 20-year partnership, which provided ADAC members with a one-cent per liter fuel discount. The cooperation is set to expire on December 31, 2026. Shell stated it intends to focus more on its own digital customer loyalty program, ClubSmart, which currently offers a two-cent discount for certain fuel types.

To replace the expiring benefit, Esso will become a new partner for ADAC. Starting September 1, ADAC members can receive the one-cent per liter discount at Esso stations by presenting their membership card. During the transition period between September and the end of 2026, members will be able to access discounts at both Shell and Esso stations. While Esso offers approximately 1,100 locations, Shell maintains a larger network of roughly 1,900 stations.
