ADAC smoke detector test identifies failing model
An ADAC test of twelve smoke detectors revealed that most models perform reliably, but one failed to provide timely and continuous warnings during a simulated smoldering wood fire (TF2 test). The Pyrexx XSD100 V3-Q received a failing grade of 5.0 (“mangelhaft”) because none of the six units tested by independent experts triggered correctly during the pyrolysis smoldering test, although it did respond to open liquid fires.
The FireAngel FA6120-INT was named the test winner with a grade of 1.7, praised for its reliable warning function, robustness against false alarms, and audible tones. The Logilink SC0016 was noted as the most affordable option, earning a grade of 2.3 (“gut”).
While the manufacturer stated the Pyrexx XSD100 V3-Q has not been sold since April 2026, the ADAC issued the warning because the devices may still be in use in many households.
