ADAC warns of severe traffic jams on Bavaria's highways this summer

The German automobile club ADAC has issued a warning that several motorways in Bavaria face a high risk of congestion as school holidays begin across nine German states. The club cites increased holiday travel toward the south and a large number of ongoing roadworks – about 1,000 permanent construction sites – as key factors. The most affected routes are the A7 (Ulm‑Füssen/Reutte), A8 (Munich‑Stuttgart), A9 (Nuremberg‑Munich), A95 (Munich‑Garmisch‑Partenkirchen), A96 (Lindau‑Munich) and the A99 ring road around Munich. ADAC advises travelers to avoid peak times on Friday afternoons, Saturday mornings and Sunday afternoons, and recommends using Mondays or Tuesdays for longer trips. Specific dates with especially high congestion risk are listed throughout July, August and September. Additional measures include weekend truck lane restrictions on the A7 in Ostallgäu, the A8 in Rosenheim, Berchtesgadener Land and Miesbach, and the A93 Inntalautobahn, where block processing for heavy trucks continues, as well as a summer travel ban for trucks over 7.5 t on Saturdays from 07:00 to 20:00.

These advisories aim to alleviate traffic pressure and limit delays for both holidaymakers and commuters during the busy summer months.
