Adail Pinheiro removed from Coari mayoralty by STF order

The Brazilian Supreme Federal Court (STF) has ordered the removal of Coari Mayor Adail Pinheiro from office as part of the Federal Police’s ‘Operação Dinastia do Lago’. The operation targets potential fraud in public bidding processes, embezzlement, corruption, and money laundering within the municipal administration.

Several municipal secretaries and civil servants have also been removed from their positions. The investigation was triggered following the seizure of approximately R$ 1.25 million in cash from three businessmen at Brasília International Airport in May 2025. Authorities are currently analyzing financial movements and electronic equipment to determine connections between these businessmen, public agents, and the Coari administration.

The probe is also examining the relationship between the investigated companies and politicians Adail Pinheiro and his son, Federal Deputy Adail Filho. Additionally, the Federal Court of Accounts (TCU) is auditing the application of federal funds, including ‘Emendas PIX’, allocated to the municipality.
