Adam Bareiro undergoes surgery for lumbar disc herniation

Boca Juniors striker Adam Bareiro has undergone successful surgery to correct a lumbar disc herniation. The Paraguayan forward had been struggling with persistent pain for several months after initially suffering a severe adductor tendon injury in May.

Despite attempting conservative treatments such as lumbar blocks, kinesiology, and specific training routines, the discomfort prevented him from integrating with the squad. The surgery marks a significant setback, with recovery timelines suggesting he may not return to official competition until 2027.

Bareiro expressed his frustration on social media, noting that he had fought through pain for over a month to return to the pitch. Since joining Boca Juniors in February 2026, he has scored six goals in 14 matches. To address his absence, the club has secured the signing of Ecuadorian international Enner Valencia to bolster the offensive lineup.
