Adam Campbell to return as young Ducky in NCIS: Origins season 3

Adam Campbell is set to return as the young version of medical examiner Dr. Donald ‘Ducky’ Mallard in the third season of the CBS prequel series ‘NCIS: Origins’. The casting was confirmed by showrunner David J. North following social media posts from series star Mariel Molino.

North indicated that Campbell’s character will appear in a different capacity than in previous episodes, noting that he ‘sort of just ends up popping up’ during a case. The return aims to further explore the foundational friendship between Ducky and Gibbs, a central element of the original ‘NCIS’ series.

Campbell previously appeared in two episodes during the second season, including a tribute episode following the passing of David McCallum. His character has previously assisted the team by evaluating their need for an in-house medical examiner and providing medical aid to various characters.
