Adam Copeland discusses AEW retirement plans

Adam Copeland has indicated that he intends to retire while competing in AEW, though he has not set a definitive date for his final match. Currently a member of the AEW World Tag Team Champions alongside Christian Cage, the 53-year-old wrestler expressed during an interview with Ariel Helwani that he is uncertain if he will continue wrestling once he reaches age 54.

Copeland noted that his decision involves balancing his passion for wrestling with acting opportunities and family time. He expressed a desire to retire on his own terms, contrasting this with his forced retirement due to injury in 2011. He also remarked that if AEW had not existed, he likely would have returned to WWE for a final year before retiring.

Comparing his current experience to his time in WWE, Copeland praised AEW for providing more creative freedom, likening the environment to the Attitude Era. He described his final years in WWE as being ‘over-produced’ and ‘over-rehearsed,’ whereas AEW allows for more exploration. Copeland is scheduled to defend his tag team titles against The Young Bucks at All In in London.
